Carrie Rongner-Cook

Hi, I'm Carrie, and I’ve been the Office Administrator here at Marsh Creek Church since 2003.  I work primarily with pastor Terry and I am responsible for the “day to day” administrative duties of the church.

BASIC STUFF: My husband Stephen and I were married in May of 2002 in Jamaica.  We met while working together in Boston.  He plays electric guitar on our Worship Team.  At this point the only “babies” we have are our two cats, Stewie & Patricia (brother & sister).  We do however have several wonderful Godchildren, most of whom you will find at Marsh Creek.

I grew up in Berwyn and after graduating college I spent a year backpacking around Europe.  I returned home only to leave again for 2 months to travel across the northern United States and western Canada, camping in every National Park along the way.  About a year after that I embarked on a 15-month world tour.  My travels took me through the south pacific, New Zealand, Australia, Southeast Asia, and finally Europe again.

More recently, I went on a 3-week tour of northern India.  Six months later Stephen and I traveled to Uganda, Africa to spend two weeks visiting with missionary friends whom we support.  While there we ministered to local children, brought donations from Marsh Creek to orphanages and schools, spent two days on safari & went white water rafting on the Nile! February of 08, I went on a missions trip to Belarus for 2 weeks with Global Aid Network.

While traveling from place to place, not only was I able to enjoy and explore the incredible wonders of nature that are truly a gift from God, but I was also privileged to learn a lot about other cultures and people groups.  I made several friends in countries all over the world that I still have to this day.

BIRTH DATE: October 2, 1970

EDUCATION: BS in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement from Shippensburg University.

INTERESTS AND FAVORITES

  • PLACES: Since I love to travel I always find this to be a tough question to answer.  I haven’t been everywhere yet, but here are a few places that are close to my heart for various reasons:  Hawaii, Highlands of Scotland, Prague, Bali, Australia, Interlaken, safari in Uganda, and London.
  • WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD:  John Mayer, MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Dave Matthews Band, Warren Barfield, and a bunch of classic rock, blues and also other contemporary Christian artists.  And of course Grounded & Warehouse Worship!
  • BOOKS: My husband and I like to read together.  We usually we read Michael Crichton and I also like John Grisham.  I also read whatever my connecting group is studying each semester.
  • WHAT DO YOU DVR:  If I owned one, it would be... House, ER, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Seinfeld reruns.
  • SPORT TEAMS: E.A.G.L.E.S. Eagles! Boston Red Sox & The Phillies  (I can like them both they are in different leagues), The Flyers (although I haven’t followed them as closely since I got married).
  • MOVIES: I love movies so this question is hard to narrow down.  Here are some of my favorites:  Princess Bride, Armageddon, Braveheart, Matrix trilogy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars trilogy, and Casablanca.  Basically romantic comedies & action movies are top of my list.
  • HOBBIES:  Traveling and photography for sure, but a little closer to home:  writing music with my husband, going to concerts, serving on the worship team and drama team, gardening (although I’m never home to do it), working out at the gym, spending quality time with family, friends, and of course, our babies (the cats).
  • DISLIKES: Cigarette smoking, people who don’t like animals and bad drivers.
  • ODD FACT: I am one of the pickiest eaters you will ever meet.  I also have 3 middle names.
  • LIFE SCRIPTURE:  The 1st one that comes to mind is John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  That verse always reminds me of my Mom because she said it so often to me.  Thank God I’ve finally been set free.  Another one would be 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new is come!”
